Since I am currently working on a project that is not ready to be publicized, this week will have two days of Mineral King.
Last weekend it was clear that fall has arrived. It didn’t feel like fall, but the colors were evidence enough.
A friend had left his sweatshirt along the trail to Timber Gap, so we headed up to see if it was still there. I only made it a little past the junction before giving up. Trail Guy went to the place where the sweatshirt had been, looked carefully all around, and finally concluded that someone new is now wearing a gray sweatshirt with the words “Grove City College”. (If you know who, please let me know!)
The next day we walked down the road and up the Nature Trail to enjoy the colors. These photos are what we saw while heading down the road.
And I’ll show you the rest tomorrow!

Secret project? C’mon, you can spill the beans! Your secret is safe with me . . . uh, I mean us!
Ah yes, that Crystal/Monarch lakes trail! Why is the steepest, rockiest part right when you begin your hike??
Another week and you would probably see our beloved aspen trees in all their stunning fall glory! Did I ever give you the postcard that my grandfather had made from his fall aspen colors photo back in the 1960s?
Sharon, you did share your G’pa’s postcard! The fall colors might hang on long enough this year to get strong because there are no storms predicted in the next couple of weeks.
That would be wonderful! I mean, we desperately need the moisture, but if the storms could just hold off another couple of weeks, the views would be stunning! I wonder if anyone (ahem: hint, hint) could/would drive up and get some beautiful fall aspen colors photos?
A photographer friend from 3R just emailed me this morning inquiring about fall colors. I believe he will do well for us!
Thank you, Mr. Photographer Friend! I would love to use one or two on our Facebook Group (with proper credit, of course) if he is willing.
