Hi on a Saturday, Blog Readers. I’m wondering if you are stuck at home, or “sheltering at home” or “self isolating”, or “in quarantine” or “sequestered”. If so, maybe you need something fun to read today.
I’m having a few thoughts about the current state of events.
- Dave Ramsey said, “The fear is more contagious than the virus”.
- If you are bored staying home, watch the stock market – it’s pretty exciting.
- No bread in stores? I guess the virus is causing people to forget to worry about gluten.
- Such weird hoarding. In response to that, here are funny pictures that two separate friends sent to me. I don’t know the origins so cannot credit anyone.
And, just because this is a beautiful time of year AND WE GOT RAIN AND SNOW, here is another photo for you. (Excuse me for shouting – precipitation is very exciting!)
My final thought is a question to ask when something unpleasant takes place in life: What does this make possible?
I’d love to hear your answers.

Great perspective, Jana. Thank you for sharing your calm and happy feel of life on this moist Saturday. 🙂
Louise, you are welcome. I appreciate your appreciation!
Folks coming together to help and support each other, to value what is important in life. We can slow down, appreciate nature more. Value kindness, quell fear. I appreciated your comments and scene. Deendie
Thank you again, Deendie. I’m posting both of your comments because what you said bears repeating!
At least we still have our sense of humor–something muchly needed these days!
Who took the last photo? It’s beautiful! I would love to have it for my desktop image. If the photographer is willing, would he/she kindly email a hi-res version, pretty please?
OK, back to my crocheting! (I wonder if Michael’s and/or JoAnn is considered “essential services?”)
Sharon, I took the photo and will send you the biggest and best version via email for your use. And what this House Arrest makes possible is that we can dive into our stashes and make a dent there.
Yes, using up scraps for a Project Linus blanket is a great option, and what I’m doing now. I just hope I don’t run out! But if I do, I can always visit https://www.yarnspirations.com/
That sounds like a fun link – thank you!
Apparently, Yarnspirations bought out Red Heart, so that’s the online source for Red Heart Yarn, which is what I use for charity afghans. Sturdy, washable, relatively inexpensive.
I looked at the site and it isn’t really a fit for me. I don’t like acrylic yarn. It makes sense for what you do but not for me. So, I learned a little something – thank you!
Sure, no problem. Charities need washable acrylic. For fancy yarn, I use https://www.yarn.com/categories/valley-yarns-knitting-yarn.
Such interesting times. For me this has caused me to slow down a bit.
I allow myself to read in the middle of the day and I nap. I have been laid off of my little part time job, and that frees up my week. My gym has closed so I’m enjoying walking outside with friends. I wanted to send a special card to my sponsored child in Rwanda so I’m painting a little watercolor.
I’ve been organizing closets etc, and I realize (again) how fortunate I am. When you touch all your “stuff” you realize just how much you have and that you really need nothing. Except maybe toilet paper, which I found at target! Ha!
We’ve never been in control. Although we thought we were. It’s humbling.
Having said all that – I miss hugging!
Great responses to the situation, Anne. Thank you for sharing!

Amen, Deendie! Thank you for checking in.
