This is another painting of California poppies, working from a photo supplied by my thoughtful and generous mailman. I painted it as an 8×10, loved it, and decided to repaint it 16×20. Practice makes perfect, someone said. It is not a commission. The 8×10 hasn’t sold yet, so maybe I am just getting ahead of myself. (Sometimes I’m just dying to paint something, and then no one else thinks it was such a good idea.)
This is after 3 layers. When this dries, I’ll add lupine.
Stay tuned – I’ll show you when it is finished!
Here is the 8×10 version:

LOVE the poppies with lupine. So reminds me of driving home from college over the grapevine…And lupine remind me of my Nana! She knew every flower known to man! (and maybe to God!!!)
How much is the 8×10?
Deb, I hoped you listened well to your Nana and took notes. I have a couple of friends that I can ask the name of almost any wildflower, and I hope I can find my notes. (If not, there is always Mr. Google.) The 8×10 painting is $90 and is on the oil page under Wildflowers but the cart doesn’t work.
Cheryl, thank you so much. It is good to know from an objective source that I haven’t plateaued. (Of course, hearing that I am getting better causes me to wonder how awful I really was!)
Melissa, I only use oils on canvas. Acrylics are a necessary evil for murals, but I’m an Oil Painter for sure! Thanks for letting me know you like the painting. And be sure to read about my trip to Washington so you can catch up on Carol!
Beautiful!! Gorgeous!! Sublime!! Are you using oils or acrylics?? Love the painting!
Hugs,
Melissa
Jana, have loved seeing your paintings in your past few posts. You are getting better all the time! Beautiful work!
