Have I painted this scene tall and narrow before? No. (Disregard the photo along side the painting – it was left there from a previous painting.)
Or in this evening light? I don’t think so.
Or with a dam on the creek? Nope
I chose to leave off the smaller tree on the left. You probably wouldn’t notice if I didn’t tell you. This might be finished. Of course I can always add more detail. . .

There used to be 2 (3?) tall trees around that historic cabin? But your “artist license” artwork looks just lovely!
P.S. I give up. Who is the birthday girl?? The face is kinda familiar, but I can’t quite ID the lass.
Sharon, there were 2 tall trees; the red fir on the left was removed about 5 years ago, which revealed a smaller one just behind it. It looked like a weed to me so I decided to just ignore it. It might make the painting look a bit unbalanced, which may just match the artist’s occasional mindset.
I will email you separately about the little girl.
