Oh yeah, I forgot I was supposed to be painting and showing them to you. Got kind of caught up in the excitement of the bridge project and the wildlife and wild weather. I AM painting, just not showing and telling. The lemon and the pomegranate were grown in Tulare County, California. (I am a California Artist, Mr. Google!)
All of these paintings are available for sale at Colors, an art gallery and studio in Three Rivers. Owner/artist Wendy McKellar and I know many women with red and yellow and gold colors in their kitchens. These women often like their colors to coordinate. I also like my kitchen colors to match – anyone know of bright blue and white fruit??

You certainly have been busy! The bridge info is fascinating, those fruit studies are fun and that kitchen of yours looks very clean!
The bluest (is that a word?) blue can be found in our elderberries, wild grapes, and blueberries, I believe. Leaving fruit alone, rosemary flowers are blue, too. So are the flowers of many ceanothus bushes that grow along the roadside and in some people’s gardens. So are those blue fiesta flowers that grow in a tangle in shady areas. Maybe you could put a sprig or two in the background? And white can be found practically everywhere, even gourds, as some person mentioned. How about blueberries in a white ceramic bowl? Or next to a pitcher of milk? Peter and I just looove your work. Whether you draw or paint, we love it all. Have a great weekend!
Wow, Catherine, what wonderful suggestions! Wouldn’t I just love to set aside the have-tos and just concentrate on the want-tos for a bit. . . but when I get a little time off, all I want to do is knit or walk or hang out in Mineral King. Perhaps a commission customer will request some blue and white kitchen-art and I will give credit to you and Melissa (thanks, MAC!) for the creative ideas!
Great suggestions, Melissa!
Deb, how fun to have twin kitchens with you!
Wow! Your kitchen layout is almost exactly like mine! I have dreamed of updating mine for years and years, but my hubby would rather buy a newer, updated house…so, it is what it is! Please tell Melissa hi for me! Would love to catch up with her! She and Jenny are the “tools” God used to bring me to Christ!
Love,
Deb
Hi Jana,
Just to not be matchy matchy, try plums that are that dark purpley color, white gourds of different shapes, white pumpkins, blueberrie bushes would be cool, blackberries are close, eggplant, calliflower, purple and white turnips.
Bright blues are hard! Put some white items with blue cobalt glass somewhere in the background.
Or try some blue cobalt glassware with deep purple grapes, leaves etc…
Hugs,
Melissa
