Why is Labor Day the end of summer? Because school used to start the day after Labor Day, that’s why.
Now, it is just the bookend to Memorial Day. Doesn’t seem to warrant a flag or a grateful patriotic message.
But you all deserve something because I feel grateful to all of you who read my blog and appreciate my labors.
How about a few views from the Farewell Gap trail minus the sore feet and huffy-puffiness?
May your labors not be too laborious.

Virginia, thank you for being a faithful reader and commenter. I appreciate you!
Thank you for sharing your blog as well as providing my first giggle of the day with your frequent “janaisms”!
Oh-oh, Rachelle, what did I say this time?? Welcome to my comments!
It’s my pleasure to read your blog! And thank you for that center picture from Farewell Gap toward Timber Gap and beyond. It’s a view I very rarely see (or maybe haven’t seen at all)!
Sharon, this is a beloved view indeed, but one you have to work to see.
And thank you for being here with us and for us with your wonderful sense of what life really is, Jana.
Louise, thank you for checking in and appreciating my weird little world.
I’m so glad you blog! I miss parts of the valley – mostly Rocky Hill- the Sequoias- Exeter- Three Rivers- Mineral King. Seeing the photos etc is heartwarming. Notice I didn’t say anything about Mooney Blvd! Ha! My memory is selective – which is fine by me!
The days get shorter sooner here in the Northwest. It’s dark around 8:00 and still dark until 6:00 in the morning. I like it. I can sit out back with my coffee and watch the day unfold. It’s especially peaceful this Labor Day because no one is driving to work. (Yes we do have some work travelers).
So I can journal and read. Lovely!
Anne, you have a peaceful life in a beautiful place. May your area stay protected from fires and riots.
