- Tulare County roads department is supposed to finish making the lower part of the Mineral King Road passable this week. Whether or not it will be open to the public is not known.
- When it is hot, the cats lie on the concrete of the front porch.
- Front to back: Pippin, Jackson (whose tail is always up), Tucker.
- When the heat backs off a bit, I hope to return to this painting. Yeah, yeah, I could use the swamp cooler, but you may have noticed that I’d rather be gardening. When I actually do work on it, you will get to see some photos.
- This place has the most beautiful views of Moro Rock and Alta Peak.
6. So does this place:
It is good to live in Tulare County this time of year (but remember, you don’t want to move here because often we have terrible air, we are all fat and undereducated, and there is no Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods.)

You sound like a cynical yuppie! 😉
Jim, I might be cynical at times, but I don’t think I know what a “yuppie” actually is.
Amen to your last statement!
Donna, I am just trying to keep people from overrunning our place.
1. I’d love to add this to our pictorial essay on “The Winter of 2022-23.” If that’s OK with you, can you please provide the date it was taken, the photographer, and send me a hi-rez version? Our pictorial is here: https://www.mineralking.net/photo-galleries/9a97ca48-c1be-11ed-89c4-0614187498c1
3. Does Pippin ever get jealous of Jackson’s tail?
5-6. So does this place: https://photos.google.com/u/1/album/AF1QipP8BWKfoqtkWqLF6UdCcu16I14xqNZZik1Z2k63 (yes, I know the gallery needs work. Some day).
Sharon, when the internet is reliable (it’s been off all day), I will send you the photo. And Pippin knows he is Michael’s favorite, so he does not care about Jackson’s tail.
Received photo, thank you. Amazing, the planning and work behind that project!
But even if you, yourself, have a favorite, that leaves someone out!
Tucker is far and away my favorite. Jackson is indifferent to us; therefore, he is not anyone’s favorite.
