By the way, whoever is flying the flag on the bottom photo needs to be reminded that tattered flags are not appropriate to fly, and this old flag should be replaced with a new one. And the old one destroyed in an honor ceremony.

The tattered flag is in a private place, viewed by only a handful of people who cherish the story of its life.
Oops, wrong tattered flag story. The tattered flag in the bottom photo has been replaced by a flag of woven fabrics rather than printed, with embroidered stars, rather than stamped on.
I’m glad to hear that. We did the same a few years ago–replaced our printed flag with a sewn fabric flag. The colors are much brighter, and I’m sure it will last longer, too.
