Maggie bought a painting of oranges and asked for a companion piece of lemons. Just so happened that someone had brought me a bag of them, so I was prepared. And, I figured if I was going to paint lemons for Maggie, I should do a series of lemons. Hers is the first in the series. Two thoughts about lemons: 1. they have less dimples than oranges and 2. what a thrill to be able to paint with a different color than orange!

Nice one, Jana!
Just looking at lemons makes me feel lovely and cool in the summertime. At one place where we lived, there was a huge lemon tree right outside the kitchen window. I made so many lemon meringue pies, and so much lemonade, but still couldn’t keep up with that tree. Same thing with the avocadoes, at that house. After using all that we could use, I ended up selling them to our local Mexican restaurant. They were the really good kind, thin skin, and large. Not these little ones, with the really thick skin, which have to turn practically black before you can eat them. At another place where we lived (Jamaica, WI) our dog loooved to eat the avocadoes that fell to the ground. She got really fat, eating that way :-)) Lemons and avocadoes, guacamole and salsa… My dad used to say that salsa must have been invented by Cajuns. Really good salsa is just as good as really good Cajun food, ha! ha! This is Friday, and I’m taking a break :-)) Can you tell? Have a great weekend, everybody.
