This is the traditional opening weekend for many people in Mineral King. While the gates will be unlocked, the road is still blocked by snow from about Highbridge on up. If you are up for a walk, you can go into the valley. Here are a few more pictures from my show at the Tulare Historical Museum, this time of Mineral King in the summer to just whet your appetite. If you are planning a visit to the area, stop by the show!

Well, I decided decidedly that Mineral King has my heart…it has my son Benjamin’s heart as well. If it were to be the two of us, and it isn’t, we would save our money and come stay for the entire summer. I am sitting outside in 95 degrees with 105% humidity enjoying my tree-filled backyard that is the closest I can get to Mineral King in Illinois. I thank my heavenly Father for my backyard often. Bryan wants to move to a different house. Only if I can take my backyard…
Back to Mineral King…as I sit, I am dreaming and wishing for a cool mountain evening in a one-of-a-kind place, built by God. Colorado? Heck no. People think that is heaven. Let them. We know better.
I must confess I am jealous, Jana. When I talk about my childhood, noone really listens or can understand. I think we are special. Daughters of Ivanhoe Orange Growers. Wow.
Thanks God. You are Mighty…
Autumn Sycamore was my friend Peggy’s favorite, and One With the Stream is probably my husband’s! Thank you Cheryl!
Have been scrolling down through your past few posts this morning, and I think my favorite paintings in these are Autumn Sycamore and One with the Stream (hope I remembered the titles correctly). What beautiful work. Have a great holiday weekend!
