Last week I had an explosion of California poppies in the painting studio. They landed on top of my stereo. (Yes, that is duct tape on the stereo – You can ask Retired Road Guy, but I doubt he’ll remember.)
Who knew that canvases came in 2×2″? They are so cute, and can be painted quickly. Of course I need my mega-strong magnifying glasses to see what I am painting, just in case anyone under 45 years of age looks at them.

I am the proud owner of the center painting, and love it! I love how the colors pop out and it looks so nice in its little easel in my living room. Thank you, Jana!
Indeed you are, Sharon! And it is all because of “Where’s The Beef?”. . .
Girl, my eyes ache just thinking about painting a 2-inch canvas. But… hmmm… come to think of it, sounds like fun! So what kind of music comes out of that stereo while you are painting the itty bitties?
Nance, ummm, “It’s a Small World”! Sorry – hope I didn’t plant that song in your head. It is fun to paint 2×2 because they get finished so quickly. My left hand gets a bit tired with my fingers smooshed into the back of the canvas. And I’ve just discovered I Heart Radio dot com – WOW, what fun!
Thanks for checking in, you Amazing Painter!
Brianna and I were looking through your blog tonite and we both LOVE these little paintings. She said “Hey! I have one just like that!” We miss you girl! Your paintings are beautiful as always!
Shannon, I miss you all too. So glad I was able to send a tiny piece of California with Brianna.
It is so wonderful to get to my computer each morning and there among all the gloomy news is this lovely email from you. Beauty and art in my morning email, so nice, so what I need each morning! Thanks for all your time, fabulous humor and sharing your artistic life with us desk people!
Hugs
Melissa
Melissa, you are so welcome! I’m currently subscribing to the Ignorance-Is-Bliss way of life. . . thank you for making time in your busy desk life for my little piece of whatever-it-is that I do.
They are totally cute! Who doesn’t like tiny things! They are vey fun and if someone wants to look an inch from their noses at a painting, then they need to stop and just enjoy the painting, not look for oop-ses.!! New word “oop-ses”, sorry!
Hugs,
Mel
