Overtime

Contrary to common opinion, I actually DO work while in the Land of No Electricity. It was cold and drizzly on Saturday, so here is the result:drying-on-the-stove.jpgThis is a fine old piece of equipment – gives warmth, cooks food, burns every last stick of split wood AND dries the first layer of oil paintings. The oven doesn’t work but I don’t mind because there are many other fun things to do besides baking.

  1. I just spent half an hour reading your Mineral King blog and enjoying the photos and art work. I have been visiting the valley since 1973 when my dad took my brothers and I there thinking Disney would build and we would never see it. I returned in the early ’80s and have been coming yearly, mostly, since then. I now bring my kids and friends and hope to for years to come.
Your art work is incredible, I especially liked the painting of the aspen trees, the color was spot-on and really captured the scene. We normally spend our time at Cold Springs campground and hike to Franklin, Eagle, Mosquito, etc.
Do you have a cabin there? I will continue to follow your web log.

    Thanks for the vistas,

    Martin

  2. Thank you, Sharon! My conscience forces me to confess that I was painting Crescent Meadow (part of the main section of Sequoia) while in Mineral King!

  3. You and Linda Hengst–two talented artists who capture the beauty of Mineral King!
