Last week I took a break in the middle of the day. Yes, I know I should have been drawing. It was a spectacularly difficult week with 5 Bad Things to face, so I went for a walk, okay? Alrighty then.
I was just boppity-bopping along, enjoying the January sunshine, contemplating matters of consequence, praying about the first 2 bad things (the other 3 were in my near future), hoping my foot didn’t hurt too much, looking for things that might make nice drawings or paintings (later, after The Cabins of Wilsonia is finished).
Look what I encountered:
That is a little pile of snow. Look at it closer. It really is snow!
Sometimes it is just weird in Three Rivers. Perhaps it is just weird in California. Maybe I was seeing things. Maybe I should have just stayed inside and kept drawing.

I am praying for snow. In Quincy. We are having spring in winter and I LOVE WINTER. Loving Winter is completely peculiar to people. It is very popular, in fact, to hate winter. It’s the topic of everyone’s conversation. I am not a big fan of summer actually. Growing up we didn’t have AC and my mom used to close all of the curtains and turn on the window AC’s which were terribly loud. It was so very depressing indoors. To this day, if someone has their curtains closed during daylight hours, sunny or not, I get the jitters. Scarred from childhood. But no counseling required. Just open the curtains! There. All better. Yep. Winter is delightful! Just wish it would come back this year before it leaves for good…
Deb, one storm does not make a winter. I continue to pray for rain and snow. Didn’t realize you were dealing with it in Illinois too. . .
And those window A/C units did the job, but oh my, how annoying. Daylight is good! Have you noticed that all lights seem a little dimmer as we (ahem) age?
(In a most sinister, 3rd reich, voice,) “Have you, or have you not, been praying for snow?”
StevenS. please, Sir, may I have some more?
Indeed, Diane! I wonder if “random” is a synonym for “peculiar”?
… quite random –
