Samson

Bengal. Biter. Liked water. Fierce, ferocious and fearless. Too fearless. Short life.

Gone a week now. Hope diminished.

Is it better to let a cat be a cat and know he will be in danger and probably have a short life or is it better to have a cat declawed and kept prisoner, safe inside your house?

We chose option #1.

Never mind. I can’t do this any more. Bye-bye, little buddy.

  1. No words my dear friend.

  2. Hello Jana,

I am so very sorry about Samson. I like so many things in life not to change. And having a wonderful pet like Samson to always come home to would be one of them. I remember when my cat died of bad pet food ( remember when the chinese put melamine in the pet food and pets were dying all over, mine was one:( Move around some furniture, put a different color throw on the couch, make some changes in your living areas. It helped me get used to the new “normal” in my life. Prayer for a healing heart.

Sending hugs, prayers and much love,
    Melissa

  3. Oh, I am so sorry. What a wonderful setting for an adventurous cat. Samson was a beautiful kitty.

  4. So sorry Jana…..

  5. OMG, I am so sorry!! It’s only been a week, though, so I’d hold out hope a little longer, if I were you. Years ago, after 6 weeks and after we had long since given up hope, one of our cats dragged herself home, filthy dirty and with useless back legs due to a broken pelvis… She had hid under cars (as evidenced by all the engine oil and grease she was wearing), after she was hit by a car… Then finally felt strong enough to get herself home using only her two front legs…She was young, like Samson, and she did recover!! As for the inside cat versus outside cat, I agree with you, if they are happy outside, that’s where they need to be. Love, Leah

  6. Oh no! Jana, I am so sorry to hear! 🙁

  7. Jana and Michael,

I am so very sorry for your loss. Samson was a fun and wonderful cat and little guy to follow. You both blessed him much with your love, care, and giving him life to enjoy and love back with.

Grateful our LORD gives us these precious ones to treasure.

    His blessing, Allen and Diane

  8. This makes me so sad! Don’t give up!

This is why my cats are 100% indoor. They live longer, and stay happy, healthy, clean, and safe.

And don’t get me started about declawing. It’s a horrible procedure, and there is no reason to mutilate a cat like that. Cats can be trained to use a scratching post if owners are willing to take the time. Please don’t ever, EVER mutilate a cat for the sake of convenience!! Get a stuffed animal, ferpetesake.

    🙁

    • I’m so very sorry to hear he is missing. I’ll hold out hope and say a prayer for him. I miss his sweet little face in your blogging. We had a kitty who looked a lot like Samson whom we called Silver. He was outdoors all day but we lured him with cat food in the evening and locked him up in the garage with a litter box and his water dish and cat food. He was never fed during the day so he was hungry by evening and Rich always called him, “Sucker” when Silver heard the porch swing squeak as we awaited his hunger pangs guiding him home. This went on for several years until he died of natural causes. I still miss him.
