The second most popular scene I do as a Mineral King painting or drawing is the Honeymoon Cabin.
This is the one remaining cabin from the resort days in Mineral King. The resort was owned by Ray and Gem Buckman, and they sold to Disney, thinking that the ski resort was an inevitable next step in Mineral King.
It wasn’t. No ski resort, but Disney ended up owning property. This is the only structure remaining, and the Mineral King Preservation Society turned it into a little museum.
It is quaint. It is scenic. It is paintable.
Honeymoon Cabin #?, 8×10″, oil on wrapped canvas, $100. Use the contact button underneath the About The Artist tab if you’d like to buy this before it sells at the Silver City Resort.

I missed the first it said put your septic is, but I assume it’s sought to.
And that is what Siri thought I dictated. I just had to leave it as is! What I actually said was, I missed the post that said what your most popular subject is, but I assume it’s Sawtooth.
Thank you for taking us through the interesting process.. Here’s a thought–why don’t you add a “hidden Mickey” when you paint something located on Disney property? 🙂
Sharon, I didn’t say what the first most popular scene is! It is Farewell Gap with the Crowley cabin and the stream.
Siri is quite bizarre at times. I don’t know her personally, but she sends me strange messages from my friends.
Fun idea about hiding Mickey. Not sure I can stomach such cuteness when I already have a teensy bit of trouble with the hidden hearts in the coloring books! Something about my oil paintings and pencil drawings feels So Serious; coloring books and murals feel light-hearted and appropriate for hidden surprises.
