Tomorrow I will be delivering paintings and drawings to Arts Visalia for my upcoming show, Still Here.
The show will be visible online, or you can make an appointment to see it during gallery hours, Wednesday – Saturday, noon – 5:00. The gallery director will interview me on Wednesday, but I don’t know how soon the interview will be visible. (More will be revealed. . .) The gallery’s website address is here, and here too; I don’t know when my work will be visible. (More will be revealed. . .)
Here is the poster.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I sure prefer a realistic-looking drawing of historic oil lanterns than a mish-mash modern “statement piece” with a human skull. But maybe that’s just me.
Not just you, Sharon; most of the people who appreciate realistic art (those in my small circle) also agree. But we are polite here.
Sharon, I didn’t mean to imply that you are impolite. I meant we can’t freely express our misgivings about the other art on display.
No, not at all! And I didn’t mean to imply that modern art is “worse” than realistic arts. Some love it, some hate it, some don’t get it. I was just stating my personal preference. YMMV.
Sure wish I could be there to support you this weekend. I wish you much success!
YMMV is beyond my de-encryption abilities at the moment. And I believe that most modern “art” is much worse than realistic art, even if it takes moxie and “thinking outside the box” to conjure it up. What healthy person wants to look at ugliness??
You may be too young to remember the auto ads where the announcer would say, “And this car gets 30 miles to the gallon! (Your mileage may vary.)” So it became a buzz phrase by someone who claimed a truth, but it may be a different outcome for others (“your mileage may vary).
And yes, I’m not a fan of scribbles that self-identify as art. Art wannabes, all of ’em!
