Unintended Good Consequences

Some of these I have already mentioned. Just trying to remind us all that there is always a silver lining. Always? Usually. Usually? Often. Often? Sometimes.

While on a walk this week, I stopped to visit with my friend in her yard and ended up working with her there for awhile.
  1. Less traffic.
  2. No mo ro bo (Robot calls have stopped at our house.)
  3. Less rushed with a looser schedule. (No, I didn’t say “loser”.)
  4. More time to pull weeds, both here and with my friends.
  5. Time to redesign my website.
  6. Catching up on To-Be-Read stack of books.
  7. Wearing Crocs exclusively, no matter what the outfit.
  8. More time with my cats, Tucker, Jackson, and Pippin.
  9. Time to make jelly from elderberry juice frozen who knows when.
  10. Can knit during a Zoom meeting, which would not be acceptable if we were meeting in person.

What have you noticed as a good unintended consequence?

  1. Well, I wrote a “brilliant” reply, hit “Post Comment” and it seems to have disappeared. Or did you see it?

    • Sharon, for some odd reason that comment ended up in the Trash. I have restored it.

  2. I agree. What started as “shelter in home for two weeks” is now on day 74 with no end in sight. And despite the governor’s tidbit of hope, he left it up to the counties to decide. Tulare County has very few infections; Los Angeles County is a mess, but mostly from Downtown/Central Los Angeles. So our church cannot meet until “Morticia” allows us to. Or until we see that this is becoming a permanent trend, trade Romans 13:1-7 for Acts 5:29 and “obey God rather than men” (or social workers). I pray for my church Elders, as they have some serious decisions to make. They are all wise, godly men, and whatever their God-given decision is, I will obey with gladness and humility.

I would love to see the number of deaths for people under 65 with no underlying health conditions. And death by COVID only, not from a car accident where the deceased happened to test positive. I’d bet the farm (if I had one) that the number would be minuscule.

    • Tulare County’s infection rate is climbing, due to more testing, of course. (Our nursing home problem didn’t help.) The numbers are confusing, because those who want them to be high are classifying deaths WITH China Virus as deaths FROM China Virus.

  3. Discovering kind friends I didn’t know I had who volunteered cheerfully to shop for groceries for me.
Spending more time with my feline charges, Taylor and Sox.

That’s about it. After 72 days on “house arrest” this week wasn’t the best for me, mentally-speaking. I think it’s getting to just about everyone.

But, but, but . . . thanks to our President, we are opening up our church for in-person worship tomorrow, yay! I can’t wait to see my beloved church family again. Zoom just isn’t the same, right? (Although you’re right–I can crochet on Zoom while watching!)

    • Yes on the friends, yes on the kitty time. I wonder if there will be a big outbreak of the virus among church attenders? More will be revealed. And thank you for the link – I sent it to someone who had requested a copy awhile ago.

      • Well, due to the last minute Ninth Circus Court’s upholding our governor’s ban on church services, we did not meet last Sunday. Now he says churches can meet . . . at 25% capacity or 100, whichever is less. Our Worship Center seats 3,000. I suppose we’ll have to hold a lottery to see who is allowed to attend church. And I can’t even believe I even had to type that sentence!

        • Such foolishness, zero common sense, and no cowboy logic whatsoever is involved in these arbitrary power plays disguised as “keeping us safe”.
